I am a researcher in the Institute of Energy Systems which is part of the School of Engineering and Electronics, at Edinburgh University.
I am involved in ocean wave energy research; an exciting area of development, which began in the 1970s and is approaching commercial viability.
Wave energy is a renewable energy source, similar to wind energy and solar power.
It is a low carbon technology, which means it produces very little carbon (limited amounts from manufacture of the devices and decommissioning), and will be part of the solution to climate change.
