SES Type for RISC-OS

If you don't know what RISC-OS is, you probably need the Windows version!

SESType is a touch typing course program. You have to copy out a sequence of letters The program slowly introduces more and more letters:

• 900 exercises to type in total.
• Includes sections of text to help you increase the speed.
• Hint system can show which finger to use to type the next letter.
• Statistics window displays history and typing analysis.
• Single-tasking 'game' to practice all letters met so far.
• Special exercises practice hard keys, or any combination you enter.
• Optional audio cues
• Fully configurable with a text editor.
• Documentation explains how to use the program, how to use it to learn, and how to configure it

• Graphs show speed history and accuracy of each letter
• Support for multi-user
• Improved Configuration

Was compiled using the optimiser and would have worked better on diddly and slow computers

By request of a school teacher:

• All control options can also be set from a menu
• Can change the default configuration - used when a new user starts typing
• Alternative simpler window layout with fewer icons

A second application displays typing performance when using any program at all (by watching key presses going into the keyboard buffer). This program is included with the main application.

Status

The program is Public Domain - I don't really care what you do with it as long as you don't pretend you wrote it (not that you would want to insult yourself by doing so).

But!

The program took a lot more work than the other programs here, and so if you can afford to pay a fiver or so for it I'd be grateful. Download it first, though, and use it for a few months before you decide whether it's worth it. If you decide it is worth it, send me some cash! If you would like to send me cash but don't have access to an account in sterling or US Dollars, then send it to a charity instead and email me to say you did it so I can feel extra pleased with myself.

A Freeware (Egoware) release. If you download the program and find it either very useful or completely rubbish, please Email me your opinions. I will reply, but only once - I'm not going to try to extort money out of you or advertise silly programs at you. I just want to know who's using my program so I can inflate my ego.

Requirements

You need an Acorn with RISC-OS 3 (I think). The game will require 3.5, but there is another version which will work on any Risc-OS 3 computer

Requires 256k Memory to run. Works best in high resolution screen mode but designed for Mode 12

It has been tested on a RISC PC with 4Mb+2 Video and on a StrongARM RISC PC with 34+2Mb Memory.

Both versions are fully functioning, the 225k includes also three textfiles which are the C source code and a proprietary makefile
