Latest version: Draw2EPS has been improved by Iain Wilkie Logan and Ewen Pring. Go to their respective websites for Iain's Front end and Ewen's 32 bit version for Iyonix machines. The software here is largely of interest for historical reasons or to compile on different platforms, such as Linux.

Draw2EPS is a command line program that will produce an Encapsulated Postscript file from a Drawfile

This is useful for LaTeX documents, which should really use eps files in place of drawfiles, as well as programs such as StarOffice. The source is platform independant, so you can use it to view drawfiles on any platform.

Draw2eps produces robust, device independent, cross-platform, hand-editable Postscript with Encapsulation headers and footers. It is considerably more robust than the output from Draw's Save->As postscript option.

Supported objects

• Path objects (except for triangular caps, and end caps)
• Text objects (including transformed text objects)

Ommisions

• Images (including transformed images and JPEGS)
• end caps (uses startcap for endcap), and arrow heads
• Text areas and text columns
• Fonts (uses Times/Roman for all text. Use a text-editor to modify the typeface. In Draw, use "Convert to Path" to turn fonts into paths before running Draw2EPS)
• A built-in preview in the EPS file. With Linux/Unix, try using ps2epsi
• A front end

What about images, and a front end?

If enough people email me to say they want it, I'll sit down and write it. I didn't need those things, so the program doesn't have them.

Getting the program

• Download compiled application. 40K zip file containing c source code, and executables for RISC-OS and ARMLinux
• Download C source code. 9k textfile that can be compiled on any platform that provides <stdio.h>.
• Download executable for Win32 (unpack with winzip). This is the version for Windows, compiled courtesy of University of Edinburgh Electronics Vision Activity on Microsoft Visual C++ Version 6.0
