!SESAnim

SESAnim is a multi-tasking animator. It displays GIF files in a window on the desktop:

There is a control dialogue that allows forward/backward/stop/play:

It is also possible to switch on and off the title bar round the animation

Status

The program is Public Domain - I don't really care what you do with it as long as you don't pretend you wrote it (not that you would want to insult yourself by doing so). Also, this is the first ever version. It'll be riddled with bugs (sorry), and a later version may have many more features. However, unless people download this and tell me about it, there won't ever be another version

Requirements

You need an Acorn with RISC-OS 3 (I think). It has been tested on an A3000 with 2Mb, and a RISCPC with 4Mb+2 Video.

There are two modes of display: If 'buffered' is not selected in the title bar icon, the image is converted to a sprite frame by frame as it is displayed, if 'buffered' is selected then the program will call InterGif to convert the whole thing into a sprite, then display that. This is likely to use more memory, but will use less processor time as it runs. Using unbuffered display requires no external software, but if you have 'buffered' selected, Intergif 5 or later must have been booted before.. Intergif is an excellent program that will convert from sprites to animations and Vice Versa. It was written by Peter Hartley and is downloadable from his Intergif Homepage

Getting the program

Basically, Click here. This will give you a 67k zipped file. You will need to use Sparkplug (or SparkFS) or InfoZip to unpack it. The program has more detailed instructions, but it's pretty intuitive.
