Hydropower Design

This page is for honours students taking the Royal Academy of Engineering sponsored interdisciplinary design project.

The project requires interdisciplinary groups of civil, mechanical and electrical engineering students to provide a preliminary design for a small hydropower station in Glen Kinglas in Argyll and Bute in western Scotland.

The project is led by Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor David Williams. Prof. Williams is the Chief Executive of the British Hydropower Association and formerly held a range of roles with the Department of Trade and Industry and with small hydro manufacturers Gilbert, Gilkes & Gordon. Within the University Dr Gareth Harrison and Dr Ewen Macpherson provide day-to-day support for the project.
