Blood Flow in Arteries

Characteristic velocity wave for patients with an abdominal aortic aneurism, Fraser et al

Arterial and coronary disease is the major cause of death in the world, exceeding those due to cancer. Hardened arteries, blocked arteries and aneurisms can result in significantly reduced quality of life, physical debilitation and eventually death. Our objective is the physical understanding of these conditions, bringing the tools of engineering to the world of medicine. Through this we can bring about improvements in measurement and diagnosis.
