Engineering at The University of Edinburgh
Engineering has a long history at The University of Edinburgh, spanning over 100
years of research and development. Engineers apply technical knowledge to
develop, produce and manage systems of the future. The professional engineer
enables society to fulfil its aspirations regarding standard of living,
convenience and recreation, whilst minimising the cost to the environment. In
order to do this engineers require not only a thorough understanding of the
technical principles, but also the wider range of management and communication
skills. These are needed to allow them to assume responsibility at all levels in
their company or organisation.
