MEng in Electronics and Computer Science
BEng in Computer Science and Electronics

These degrees, offered jointly by the School of Engineering and Electronics and the School of Informatics, is designed to train graduates who will have a unique blend of skills in both hardware and software. Such graduates are, and will continue to be, much in demand by employers because of their breadth of knowledge and skills. Our graduates have an unusually wide range of options open to them, being qualified to work in software development, hardware development or both.

Computers have become an increasingly significant feature of our modern society. All computers consist of electronic hardware capable of running computer programs or software. Advances in computing have only been made possible because of developments in electronics and developments in software. These degrees are therefore relevant to the current and future needs of an industrial society.

These courses, like other MEng and BEng degree courses in Electronics, have a common structure in the early years with the core subjects of Mathematics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In the later years of the course specialist subjects are taught including Signal Processing, Communications, Parallel Architectures and Embedded Software to name but a few.

Full details, including typical entrance requirements, can be found in the course flyer. Note that although the two BEng courses have different UCAS codes, the content of the degrees is identical.
