Scholarships from External Bodies

Iberdrola Foundation Scholarships

The university has a number of scholarships provided by the Iberdrola Foundation which amount to covering tuition fees plus a maintenance allowance of £1,200 per month. Applications should be made by February 29th 2012. EPSRC Collaborative Training Account
The University was granted in previous years additional postgraduate funding from the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) through the Collaborative Training Account (CTA) scheme which supports links of postgraduate training programmes with the workplace. The studentships are aimed at UK/EU students only. In 2007/2008 we were able to partially or fully refund the tuition fees for all eligible UK/EU students. The allocation for the coming academic year is not yet known. If funds are awarded, a preliminary allocation will be done in July and if any of the allocated studentships are not taken up, an additional allocation will be made in September immediately prior to the start of the new academic year. There is no need to apply for the studentships; all eligible UK/EU candidates will be automatically considered.

Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS)
The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) allocates a number of postgraduate studentships to eligible MSc students on specified courses. In 2009/10, the MSc was allocated 2 studentships which cover tuition fees of elibible applicants (normally Scottish residents). Eligibility criteria can be found at the postgraduate page on the
SAAS website. All eligible applicants should indicate this on their application as well as sending an appropriate email to pgtaught@see.ed.ac.uk. The studentships will be allocated in summer, with the main criterion being academic performance to date, and the successful candidates assisted in applying directly to SAAS.

Iberdrola Foundation Scholarship
Up to 14 scholarships will be available to students of Spanish, British and US nationality in 2011-2012 session for postgraduate study in Energy and Environment area.
