Entry Requirements and Fees
Entry to the course will normally require a first or upper second class Honours degree (or equivalent), preferably in engineering or a physical science. Applicants with backgrounds in fields other than engineering should be aware that although the course covers a broad spectrum of topics, it is engineering-based and students with non-engineering background have to be prepared for hard work. However every year our non-engineers tend to do well and, in fact, in 2005/06 the best student in the year was a graduate of Geography. Applicants with non-engineering background are STRONGLY advised to revise basic mechanical and electrical engineering.
Evidence of proficiency in English must be provided by those for whom
English is not their first language. A pre-course English tuition programme is organised specifically by the University's Institute for Applied Language Studies.
