Targetted Ph.D. positions

There is funding for a Ph.D. in Multi-scale modelling to Maximise Demand Side Management

Possible Ph.D. topics

IDCOM welcomes application from propective Ph.D. students in any of our areas of interest. Broad areas that we are into:

  • Signal processing for communications systems; communications system design; wireless & copper access; channel modelling; positioning systems; multiple-input multiple-output systems; spatial modulation; visible light communications; multi-user detection; ad-hoc networks; network interaction, etc.
  • Image processing and coding; wireline modelling; algorithm fusion; multi-media signal processing.
  • Signal processing for airborne radar systems; space-time adaptive filtering; bistatic operation; MIMO radar & sonar; hot clutter rejection; classification systems; data fusion.
  • Signal processing for audio applications; non-stationary signal processing; perceptual signal processing.
  • Fundamental algorithm development and analysis; compressive sensing; adaptive filters; non-linear filters; minimum BER adaptive filtering; non-linear non-Gaussian signal processing; blind source separation.
  • Usability enigineering; the human-machine interface; dialogue engineering.

The nature of of most of the Ph.D. work is a combination of theoretical algorithm development and analysis combined with simulation in MATLAB and C.

How to apply to do Ph.D. research

To process your application we need a completed application form and associated material.
