Recently Harald Haas was invited by Professor Zhang Ping (Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications – (BUPT)) to join the Chinese “111 program”.

The Program is established and supported jointly by the National Bureau for Foreign Experts of China and the Ministry of Education of China. About 100 Guest Academic Talents Bases will be established in some selected universities in China during the period from 2006 to 2010.

Harald was officially inaugurated as "Regular High Level Visiting Scientist" at a ceremony with two other scientists (Professor Dubrovskii and Professor Zhukov) from the research group of Professor Z. I. Alferov (Nobel laureate in Physics 2000) in December 2007. In November 2008 Harald was invited by the president of BUPT, Professor Binxing Fang, to serve on The Fifth Editorial Committee of The Journal of China Universities of Posts and Telecommunications (English Edition).
