The Royal Society of Edinburgh is organising a major two day conference in Structures and Granular Solids. The event will bring together a significant group of eminent researchers from around the world for an important scientific meeting in these two related and interacting fields, with a unique theme of bridging the gap between the development of new scientific understanding and its application to solve practical engineering problems. The conference will be held at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, in the heart of the city's New Town.
Structures and Granular Solids has been a central theme of the work of Professor J. Michael Rotter. It is therefore fitting that the event will celebrate his contributions to science and engineering, particularly in the fields of structures, shells, silos and granular solids.
A Scottish banquet and entertainment will be held at Dalhousie Castle, a 13th century fortress just a few miles from Edinburgh.
More details can be found by reading the conference flyer, visiting the Royal Society of Edinburgh site, or the conference website.
