Professor Michael Rotter elected to Fellowship of The Royal Society of Edinburgh

Congratulations to Professor Michael Rotter who has been elected to Fellowship of The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), in recognition of his outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of Civil Engineering.

This honour comes on top of Professor Rotter's election as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2004.

Election to Fellowship of The Royal Society of Edinburgh

Election to Fellowship of The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) honours outstanding achievement across all academic subjects, the professions, the arts, commerce, industry and public life. But conferring the accolade of Fellowship on people recognised as amongst the best minds in Scotland is the beginning, not the end, of the Society's purpose. The collective expertise and experience of the Fellowship is the underpinning foundation of all the other goals of the Society.

The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) is Scotland's National Academy. A wholly independent, non party-political body with charitable status, the RSE is a knowledge resource for the people of Scotland. Organising conferences and lectures both for the specialist and for the general public, the RSE is a forum for informed debate on issues of national and international importance. The Society draws upon the expertise of its multidisciplinary fellowship of men and women of international standing, to provide independent, expert advice to key decision making bodies, including Government and Parliament. Strengthening links between academia and industry and boosting wealth-generation at home, the Society's Research Awards programme annually awards over one and a half million pounds to exceptionally talented young academics and potential entrepreneurs.
