Responding to Instructions to LOAD Media, HP4000

1.  LOAD TRAY 1,2,3

Instructions to load the media requested in TRAYs 1,2 or 3 must be followed - the printer has run out of paper!!

2.  MANUAL FEED, HP4000

This printer is configurable to print special media by folding down both the multi-purpose media tray (input, TRAY 1) and the rear output tray. It is imperative that a straight-through paper path is used for any special media. If the message displayed on the panel requests:

MANUALLY FEED
LABEL_B A4
PCB_MASK A4
END A4 [see 2.2]
then please follow the instructions below.

If the media request on the panel is NOT one listed above, then we regard the request as spurious and press either the green GO button to print the job on plain A4 paper, or the red job cancel button to discard the job.

2.1.  Manually feeding special media

  1. Fold down REAR output tray[*]
  2. Fold down Tray 1.
  3. Load the requested media face up, top edge innermost.
  4. The job will automatically start to print - don't press any buttons!!
  5. ... Don't go away!! ...

2.2.  At the end of the job you will be asked to:

        MANUALLY FEED
        END    A4
This is a clumsy way of asking you to now please:
  1. REMOVE the output and CLOSE the rear output tray.
  2. UNLOAD any unused media and CLOSE TRAY 1[*].
  3. Now, and only now, please press the green GO button to indicate that the normal printer configuration has been restored. A piece of plain paper is then printed.
  4. NB Under no circumstances should special media be left loaded in the printer after the job has finished.

Thank You.
