Connections to the School Network

Policy

  1. All equipment must be registered in the School's computer inventory and approved by the IT team before connection can be made.
  2. A member of full time academic staff must be designated to be responsible for activities undertaken using the computer or equipment within the School [Usually the user's supervisor or PI.]
  3. Any connection or disconnection of equipment to or from the school network must be authorised in advance by the IT team.

Requesting Connection

If the equipment you wish to connect does not have a W-number, you need to complete:

Once you have a wnumber, connect the machine into an available network socket. It may take up to ten minutes for the network to reconfigure itself to work with your machine, and possibly require a reboot.
