The PREDFIRE Project

The PREDFIRE project (Predicting Fire behaviour of nano-composite plastics from intrinsic properties) is an EU funded project, initiated in 2005 and due to conclude in 2008. The consortium of institutes involved in the project includes the Universities of Edinburgh, Ulster, Bolton and Lille, as well as a number of industrial partners.

the University of Edinburgh's role in the project is largely confined to Work Package 3 of the project, collaborating with the Universities of Ulster and Bolton, in which we are Work Pachage Leaders. WP3 involves the detailed study of intermediate-sized plastic samples in the Cone Calorimeter and Fire Propagation Apparatus.
