Welcome to the 5th ISFEH Homepage
The 5th ISFEH was held in Edinburgh in April 2007. It brought together an exciting body of 120 researchers and international experts working on the underlying science and technology associated with fire and explosion hazards. The four previous seminars in this series were held in Moscow, Russia (1995, 1997; under the auspices of the All-Russian Research Institute for Fire Protection), Lake Windermere, England (2000; organised by the University of Central Lancashire) and Londonderry, Northern Ireland (2003; organised by the University of Ulster). Leading institutions in the field of fire and explosion safety, such as the IAFSS and FM Global, were actively involved in the organisation of the previous seminars.
Advances in combustion, fire and explosion sciences have a significant impact on the problems facing fire and explosion safety engineering. The 5th ISFEH focused upon the application of these advances and encourage research into the science to understand hazards, prevent and mitigate the adverse effects of fires and accidental explosions.
Full details of the programme of the seminar, the presentational materials and the papers presented at the seminar are included on this archive.
Copies of the proceedings will be available to purchase later in the year. The price is expected to be of the order of £85 (TBC).
