Class Reps are the link between students and staff at course and degree level, ensuring that the University is continually listening and engaging with students to improve teaching, learning, assessment, and academic services.
Class Reps feed issues back directly into their disciplines through Student-Staff Liaison Committees, and can feedback to the Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA) Student Council through their School Reps.
Class Reps are elected in the first two weeks of semester. School Reps arrange the elections, and provide students with information about the role, and how to stand, during the Induction Week. Please contact class.reps@eusa.ed.ac.uk should you have any questions about the Class Rep system.
Online guidance for all Class Reps can be found on the EUSA website.
Here is a list of current Class Reps.
In each discipline, a Senior Discipline Rep is selected from that discipline's Class Reps. This is normally a Class Rep in 4th or 5th Year. The Senior Discipline Rep chairs their discipline's Staff Student Liaison Committee, and is responsible for drawing up the meeting agendas and ensuring that any action points are followed up. The Senior Discipline Rep also meets regularly with the Head of Discipline to deal with urgent issues or any matters brought to their attention by the Class Reps.
There are two School Rep places per School on the Student Council. School Reps provide a link between Class Reps and the Student Council, feeding back to Council issues which have been raised by Class Reps or any other students in their School. School Reps also provide guidance to Class Reps in their School and aim to build effective relationships with University staff, to ensure that students are represented at every level.
School Reps are elected in the main EUSA elections, and any vacant positions in the bi-elections. For more information about becoming a School Rep please email school.rep.support@eusa.ed.ac.uk
In 2011/12 the School of Engineering's School Reps are:
Rosie Brown and Michael Gillway
