About us
The Membrane Technology Research Group at the University of Edinburgh was conceived in September 2005 when Andrea Schäfer was offered the Chair of Environmental Engineering. The group has since grown substantially and exciting research takes place.
Our main aims are to:
- carry out excellent, transdisciplinary and world-leading research in the fields of water treatment using membrane technology with a focus on micropollutant removal as well as renewable energy powered systems;
- provide excellent training and career development opportunities for our people to create future research capacity to solve our environmental and water-related problems;
- form strong relationships with selected industry partners to ascertain knowledge transfer and relevant research directions;
- make a significant contribution to global development with the dream 'Safe drinking water for all children'.
We would be pleased to walk part of the journey with you and invite you warmly to get in touch, collaborate, sponsor, donate equipment, visit, hire our graduates, invite us to tell you about our work or any other form of support that will help us fulfill our dream!
