March 2004: The Institute
Moves
After ten very successful years in the Crew Building, the
Institute has moved to join colleagues in the rest of the School of Engineering
and Electronics. The Alexander
Graham Bell Building, which is also the home of the Centre for Communication
Interface Research and the Institute for Digital Communications, is a
purpose built building which was opened in December 2003.

Alexander Graham Bell Building
In order to accomodate the burgeoning activities of the
institute, phase 2 of this new building is due to commence construction
in May 2004. The new wing will house only the Institute for Infrastructure
and Environment and is to be called the William
Rankine Building. At that time we will welcome back our colleagues
in the Environmental & Fire Safety Engineering research groups, who
are temporarily housed in the Faraday Building.
